That the climate crisis has deeply impacted our country goes without saying. It continues to affect the agriculture sector, causing food insecurity. Since it has not rained properly for about four months, the average yield of our crops has dropped. This has caused a tendency on the part of the haves to stockpile foodstuff, thus depriving the have-nots to suffer.
The lack of rain has also caused an alarming shortage of clean water for daily use. According to reports, as of 2023, only about 36% of water in the country was considered safe for consumption. While it is difficult to tackle water shortage entirely, we can still manage it by preventing wasting water. Moreover, factories should not release contaminated water into rivers and the sea as not only is this damaging to people, but also to the marine life. It is important for us to take the climate crisis seriously so that future generations do not suffer from our irresponsible practices.
