KARACHI:
Liberalism is a serious threat to the rich cultural heritage of the Baloch people. The influx of Western ideals and values is rapidly eroding traditional practices and customs, prioritising individualism over community and tradition. As a result, the Balochi cultural identity is at risk of being lost forever. Our unique customs, language and traditions, which have been preserved for centuries, are being gradually replaced by foreign values and norms. This not only undermines our cultural heritage but also threatens the very fabric of our society.
There is need for all stakeholders to take immediate action to protect and preserve the Balochi cultural heritage. This can be achieved through promoting cultural education and awareness programmes that highlight the importance of preserving traditional practices and customs. Additionally, supporting cultural institutions and organisations that work to preserve and promote Baloch culture, and encouraging community engagement and participation in cultural activities and events, can also help safeguard our cultural heritage.
I believe it is our collective responsibility to safeguard the Balochi cultural heritage for future generations.
