As the world hurtles towards an unprecedented technological revolution, two nations are traversing vastly different paths. The US has announced plans to invest a staggering $500 billion in AI infrastructure. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s priorities lie elsewhere — in the development of housing societies.
This stark contrast raises fundamental questions about our nation’s vision, priorities and future. While America is harnessing the transformative power of AI to drive economic growth, improve healthcare and enhance national security, Pakistan’s focus on housing societies seems woefully inadequate.
The benefits of investing in AI infrastructure are manifold. It can create new industries, generate employment opportunities and catapult Pakistan into the league of developed nations. Instead, our resources are being diverted towards projects that, while important for addressing housing shortages, do little to propel us towards a knowledge-based economy. By neglecting AI, we risk being left behind in the global technological race.
