There are reports of fake eggs being sold in markets. These eggs are made using chemicals and other substances like gelatin, synthetic colorants and coagulants, and seem real in appearance and texture. It’s important to differentiate between real and fake eggs. Real egg do not produce any sound when shaken because yolk and white portion are tightly packed within the shell, whereas fake egg will produce sloshing sound due to the presence of liquid inside in loose setting. The shell of a real egg is brittle and breaks easily when cracked while that of a fake egg is harder and difficult to crack, and breaks into larger, plastic-like pieces. The yolk of a real egg is round and firm and egg white is clear and slightly runny, while the yolk of a fake egg is not round and breaks down easily and its egg white is often too thick.
