Honour killing crisis

Honour killing crisis

Honour killing is a very dangerous and deeply harmful action that continues to claim the lives of thousands of women every year. According to the UN, around 5,000 women are killed annually worldwide in the name of family honour, with many more cases going unreported. These killings often happen when a woman chooses her own partner, seeks a divorce or refuses to follow strict traditions. This action not only violates human rights but also keeps gender inequality and violence alive in society. To stop honour killing in Pakistan, the government must make stricter laws, punish those responsible more severally and provide better protection for victims. It is also important to educate the public about women’s rights and the need for equality so that this harmful practice could be done away with.
