Biomedical engineering has played an essential role between medicine and technology in evolving healthcare systems as a solution in the diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases. From life-saving devices like ventilators and dialysis machines to advanced imaging technologies such as MRI and CT scans, biomedical engineers contribute significantly towards improving patient care. These advances not only make diagnoses more accurate but also lower the risk of human error in treatment procedures.
In countries like Pakistan, where healthcare systems are facing challenges, this field needs to be given due importance so that medical technologies become affordable and are developed locally. Educators and healthcare institutions should invest in biomedical engineering programmes, research and infrastructure. This way, we can create innovation and make advanced medical care accessible to everyone.
