Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, has remained a victim of natural calamities, having suffered floods, earthquakes, etc, resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life. The frequency and intensity of these calamities have increased significantly in recent years, and it is imperative that we take immediate action to mitigate their impact. There is need for the government to develop a comprehensive disaster management plan that includes measures to prevent and respond to natural disasters.
Furthermore, it is essential to address the root causes of these calamities, including climate change, poor urban planning and inadequate infrastructure. The government must invest in sustainable development projects that prioritise the needs of vulnerable communities and promote environmental resilience.
The government needs to work with local communities, NGOs and international organisations to develop effective solutions to this pressing issue.
