Traffic congestion

Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, is in the grip of severe traffic congestion. Commuters are forced to spend hours stuck in traffic, particularly during peak hours. This issue is further compounded by the prolonged delays in the completion of various road and infrastructure projects across the city remain incomplete, causing bottlenecks and severely disrupting traffic flow.
These delays not only cause inconvenience but also lead to broader problems like increased fuel consumption, air pollution and economic losses. Many citizens are left frustrated as they navigate unsafe detours and poorly managed traffic diversions on a daily basis.
It is high time that the authorities take decisive action to address these challenges. Measures such as expediting the completion of construction projects, implementing better traffic management during construction and ensuring contractors adhere to deadlines are crucial. Additionally, a long-term strategy to tackle Karachi’s traffic woes is desperately needed to ease the burden on its citizens.
The authorities should treat this matter with urgency and prioritise the development and management of the city’s infrastructure. Karachi’s residents deserve a city that is functional, efficient and safe.
