KARACHI:
Dirt, filth and pollution are among the primary causes of the spread of various diseases. People, nearly everywhere in the country, tend to dispose of waste randomly — in the streets, on roadsides or into lakes and rivers. The harmful practice is not only affecting humans, but also threating the existence of animals and sea creatures.
Sadly, Abbottabad is no different. People here, in general lack, civic sense and never bothered about dirty neighhourhoods. Garbage is thrown everywhere except in the designated areas. This not only takes a toll on the natural beauty of such a picturesque hill station, but also gives rise to diseases like diarrhea, dysentery, typhoid, hepatitis and cholera.
I request the relevant authorities to raise awareness about the issue. Implementing fines on those responsible should also be considered.
