Drug menace

Drug menace

Drug addiction is a devastating menace that can ravage entire communities and destroy the fabric of a nation. In Balochistan, this issue has reached alarming proportions, with a significant number of youths falling prey to this destructive habit. The situation is particularly dire in District Lasbela, where drugs are even available at shops. The consequences of drug addiction are wide-ranging, leading to family breakdowns and a general sense of hopelessness.
To combat this issue, it is imperative that the government take decisive action, involving: implementing laws that prohibit the sale and distribution of drugs; imposing harsh punishments on those involved in the drug trade, including traffickers and sellers; launching public awareness campaigns to educate people about the hazards of drug addiction and the importance of seeking help; and providing access to rehabilitation centres and support services for those struggling with addiction.
It is the responsibility of the government to take concrete steps to address this issue. Unfortunately, in Balochistan, there seems to be a lack of urgency and action from the authorities. I urge the government to take immediate action to address the scourge of drug addiction in the country’s largest province.
