Mental health remains a largely neglected issue in Pakistan, despite its growing impact on individuals and society. Depression, anxiety and stress-related disorders are on the rise, especially among young people, yet there is a significant lack of awareness and support for those affected. Stigma surrounding mental health often prevents individuals from seeking help, and the limited number of qualified professionals means limited treatment. In a country of over 240 million people, there are only a few thousand psychiatrists and psychologists, most of whom are concentrated in urban areas, leaving rural populations underserved.
