No school in Kappar

Letter December 12, 2024
No school in Kappar

Kappar is a small town in the Kech district of Balochistan. Located far from major urban centres, Kappar faces many developmental challenges. Like many other rural areas of Balochistan, Kappar also struggles with limited or no access to basic services. Lack of schools, particularly for girls, is one of the major issues. Social, economic and logistical barriers often prevent children from attending school. Poor infrastructure, poverty and a lack of proper roads and transportation make it difficult for children to travel even to the nearest educational institutions. This, combined with the political and security situation in parts of Balochistan, often leaves many areas like Kappar underserved and overlooked in terms of development. The absence of a school in Kappar means children, especially girls, miss out on the opportunity to receive an education. The consequences of this are long-lasting, contributing to cycles of poverty and underdevelopment in the region.
