Lack of pure water

Lack of pure water

KARACHI:

While much of Pakistan is suffering from potable water shortage, the situation is far worse in Balochistan. People, in rural parts of the province in particular, are contracting many kinds of diseases just because of the lack of clean drinking water. Poor segments of society are the worst sufferers as they cannot afford to purchase water that is safe for drinking. In contrast, those who are well-off have the means to buy bottled water, in what reflects the existence of deep-seated socioeconomic disparities. I call upon both federal and provincial governments to take immediate action to address this critical issue. It goes without saying that safe drinking water is essential for the health and well-being of people.
