As a concerned resident of Islamabad, I am writing to express my distress over the ongoing construction of an underpass from Serena Chowk to Abpara Market. While the project’s intention to ease traffic flow, especially during VIP movements, is understandable, the execution has been thoughtless and inconsiderate of the residents’ well-being.
The construction work, which continues 24/7, has made our lives unbearable. The constant noise pollution has deprived us of peaceful nights and restful sleep. This is particularly egregious, given that residents have already endured prolonged lockdowns during events like the recent SCO Summit. I urge the authorities to reconsider their decision to rush the project’s completion. While meeting deadlines is important, it should not come at the cost of residents’ health and quality of life. I request that the construction work be limited to daytime hours, allowing residents to have some respite at night.
