Once a proud symbol of Pakistan’s aviation industry, PIA has sadly fallen into disrepair. This decline is not a result of internal failings, but rather a consequence of years of systemic mismanagement by successive governments. In its golden era, PIA was a global aviation leader, establishing airlines in developing nations and training pilots from around the world. Renowned for its safety, reliability, and exceptional service, it was a source of national pride. However, decades of neglect, poor decision-making and political interference have eroded this legacy.
As PIA’s revival is crucial for Pakistan’s economic growth and international reputation, it is imperative that urgent steps are taken to address the root causes of its decline, including restructuring, improved management, and investment in modernising its fleet. Rather than considering a hasty sale at a significantly undervalued price, the government should prioritise a comprehensive overhaul to restore PIA to its former glory.
