The deplorable condition of the underpass — locally called puliya — at Kala Board, Malir, Karachi warrants serious attention of the relevant authorities. The underpass, which serves as a key route for many residents, remains constantly flooded after rain due to poor drainage. The water accumulating in the underpass makes it nearly impossible for vehicles and pedestrians to pass safely. This stagnant water not only disrupts the flow of traffic but also poses health risks by becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes. In addition, the road surface beneath the water has deteriorated, leading to potholes that further endanger the lives of commuters.
The lack of timely maintenance has turned this crucial passage into a hazard for everyone. I, on behalf of all residents, call upon the authorities to take an immediate action for repairing the drainage system connected with the underpass, besides ensuring regular maintenance to prevent water accumulation. Installing pumps or improving the drainage infrastructure could help mitigate this recurring issue. This matter requires urgent attention from the authorities to prevent further inconvenience and potential accidents.
