Healthcare reform

Healthcare reform

That the state of healthcare system in the country teeters on the brink of collapse goes without saying. A severe shortage of essential healthcare facilities and services is a stark reality, condemning countless lives to preventable suffering and death. Nearly all healthcare expenditures have to be borne by the people themselves, pushing entire families into crippling debt. Our healthcare system is characterised by an alarming shortage of medical professionals, particularly in rural areas; an abysmally small number of medical facilities, which too are devoid of essentials like equipment and medicine; treatment coming at a cost even at a government-run facility; and long waiting time even for patients needing urgent attention.
The government must take swift action to improve the situation, as people deserve a reliable, accessible and affordable healthcare system.
