Teachers: petty pay

Letter October 26, 2024
Teachers: petty pay

Teachers associated with private schools in Baloshistan — and of course the rest of the country — are paid pitiful wages despite their qualifications. Even though these schools charge very high fees from the students, they treat their teachers like personal servants, paying them a few thousand rupees for a full-time job. Most of the teachers receive less than half of what the government has set as minimum wage. I recently started working as a teacher, but I have failed to find even one school that could pay me more than the statutory minimum wage, let alone a fair compensation. The government needs to conduct a thorough investigation into the situation and take action to guarantee that school administrators compensate all of their teachers fairly.
