A resident of Karachi’s Malir neighbourhood, I want to draw attention towards the deteriorating condition of the roads in our locality. The residents of Malir have long been enduring broken roads calling for an immediate repair. This situation not only affects daily commutes but also poses serious safety risks to the public.
The broken roads have become a serious concern not just for the people residing in Malir, but for a large number of others who have to pass through this densely populated neighbourhood for onward journey. It goes without saying that the poor condition of the roads results in traffic jams, damage of vehicles, loss of fuel and frequent accidents. The situation worsens in the rainy season, with large puddles and deep potholes making it nearly impossible to drive or walk safely. Citizens, especially school-going children and elderly people, face severe difficulties due to this long-standing problem.
The relevant authorities must take an immediate action to repair the roads in Malir. A well-planned infrastructure project to fix these roads and ensure proper drainage systems will go a long way in improving the quality of life for the residents.
