The hidden enemies of success

The hidden enemies of success

William James, the pioneer of modern psychology, astutely observed, “We don’t laugh because we’re happy; we’re happy because we laugh.” Today, I confront the insidious obstacles that hinder leaders from achieving greatness.
The Fatal Five: Enemies of Success
Blame-Shifting: Succumbing to finger-pointing undermines success. Own your weaknesses, acknowledge failures, and strive for improvement. Blaming others ensures stagnation.
Chronic Complaining: Cease lamenting about time constraints, circumstances or others. Self-pity breeds solitude and stress. Leaders take responsibility, never blaming external factors.
Condemnation: Refrain from criticising others and yourself. Focus on personal growth, recognising that every action has consequences.
Comparison: Never measure yourself against others. You are uniquely created, blessed with distinct qualities. Embrace self-determination and perseverance.
Recognise these destructive patterns and take corrective action: acknowledge and address weaknesses; stop complaining and start living; focus on self-improvement; celebrate individuality; and embrace responsibility
As humans, we are gifted with inherent greatness, thanks to Allah’s benevolence. Yet, our self-inflicted flaws and weaknesses create divisions. Let us reclaim our purpose and recognise our true potential.
As Forrest Gump wisely said, “Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.” Seize control, confront your enemies of success, and unlock your true potential.
