As many as 20 FMCG brands were issued notices for deceptive discount ads by CCP on Sept 22, 2024. While I appreciate that government departments are actually working in our country, I do have a suggestion for CCP.
Deceptive marketing/discounts in FMCG markets are very common but the investment of the consumer is probably very low — in hundreds of rupees, or a maximum of one to two thousand. I wonder how the real estate billboards/ads get away with any such notices despite the fact that beautiful skylines of Singapore and other developed countries are shown as part of the marketing campaigns. Here, the investment of the consumer is much bigger — running into millions of rupees. Why doesn’t CCP ban such misleading of real estate ads? Every other billboard in our country is related to a real estate project, and far from reality!
May I also take this opportunity to remind the chairman CCP of my complaint against certain beverage companies who are paying millions to big outlets and restaurants for selling their particular brand of beverage, thus depriving customers of their right of choice. Isn’t it a classic example against the very spirit of market competitions?
