KARACHI:
The mysterious explosions in Lebanon, where hundreds of pager communication devices exploded simultaneously, resulted in the loss of many lives and injuries. Concerns have been raised over electronic warfare. This new type of warfare will harm developed regions like Europe, America and Israel more than the developing ones. This is because developed countries have more advanced technology infrastructure, which makes them more vulnerable to such new types of warfare. On the other hand, developing countries have weaker technology infrastructure, which makes them less vulnerable.
The manufacturing of devices like pagers, smartphones, IoT, AI robots, driverless vehicles and internet-connected gadgets will be affected in developed countries. If these devices can be used to harm people, people will be less likely to buy them, affecting developed countries’ economies. Electronic warfare can damage online businesses, hurt economies, cause job losses and make all electronic devices less safe, which may lead countries to limit their use of electronics.
Therefore, the United Nations and other international forums should impose a ban on Israel’s IT products, and countries with IT manufacturing capabilities should not allow the Israelis to work in these industries, as they can pose a threat to global security. However, all countries need to work together to stop this new type of warfare.
