Upper Mall power outages

Upper Mall power outages

KARACHI:

The recurring power outages in the Upper Mall Scheme of Lahore is too troubling, primarily caused by falling tree branches onto LESCO transmission lines. These incidents have become increasingly frequent, leading to significant disruptions in our daily lives and causing considerable inconvenience to residents.

Recently, two electricity poles were completely burnt due to a short circuit caused by falling branches, resulting in a power outage that lasted for 5 to 6 hours. The sweltering heat made the situation even more unbearable for residents, especially the elderly, children, and those with health conditions. It is disheartening to endure such hardships while paying exorbitant electricity bills.

I urge LESCO to take proactive measures to address this issue by conducting routine tree trimming and cutting activities along the transmission lines. This preventive action would not only prevent future power outages but also save the government unnecessary expenditure on replacing damaged equipment.

By prioritising tree maintenance, LESCO can ensure more reliable and uninterrupted power supply. This matter deserves to be addressed promptly to alleviate the suffering of the community.
