Cultural ignorance

KARACHI:

In Pakistan, dreams are often supported only after they yield significant profits or national recognition. The recent triumphant return of our celebrated hero, Arshad Nadeem, has prompted many to encourage creativity and inspire our youth to achieve new milestones. But why do these attitudes shift only after witnessing someone else’s success? What about the countless other talented individuals who are pushed away from non-traditional paths, forced into the mold of societal expectations?

To parents and guardians, I stress the importance of supporting your child’s dreams before they feel the need to prove themselves to the nation. Encouragement should not be conditional on immediate success. It must be woven into the fabric of our society to create a more supportive environment for future generations. Let our youth speak up for our nation, just as our artistic, athletic, and innovative heroes have.
