Thank you Arshad Nadeem!

KARACHI:

Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise. This quote perfectly embodies Arshad Nadeem’s journey. The Javelin Giant’s victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics has brought immense pride to Pakistan. Hailing from the small village of Mian Channu in Khanewal District of Punjab, Arshad’s journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. Unlike many other athletes, Arshad didn’t have the hype or fan following that cricketers and other sports stars often enjoy. He was relatively unknown, both in Pakistan and around the world, working tirelessly in silence without seeking the spotlight.

Arshad also faced significant financial challenges, struggling without proper sponsorships or funds to support his training. He couldn’t even afford a new javelin, yet his determination never wavered. His perseverance paid off when the Pakistan Cricket Board eventually stepped in to sponsor him, allowing him to continue his pursuit of excellence.

On the grand stage of the Olympics, Arshad made history with a monstrous 92.97m throw in the final round, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in 40 years. This throw is now recorded as the sixth longest in the history of the sport. More significantly, Arshad became the first individual athlete from Pakistan to win an Olympic gold, breaking a medal drought that had persisted since 1992, when Pakistan’s field hockey team clinched bronze in Barcelona.

The entire nation erupted in celebration, with social media platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook and Instagram overflowing with excitement and joy. Messages of congratulations poured in, not only from Pakistan top elected office holders, like Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, but also from cricketers, celebrities and admirers around the globe, including from neighbouring India.

Arshad Nadeem’s triumph is more than just a sporting achievement — it’s an inspiration for everyone, showing that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. His success is a testament to the power of perseverance and quiet dedication, proving that true champions don’t need fanfare, funds or sponsorships to make a lasting impact.

Arshad Nadeem, you have made the entire nation proud. We are deeply thankful to you. You are an inspiration not just for Pakistan, but for the whole world. More power to your elbow, man!
