Bogus domiciles

Letter August 10, 2024
Bogus domiciles

KARACHI:

For years, the issue of bogus domiciles has plagued Sindh, with residents consistently raising concerns about the misuse of this system. Despite repeated objections from the public and warnings from political leaders, the problem remains unresolved. Numerous instances of recruitment based on fraudulent domiciles have been reported, yet the issue has not been given the attention it warrants. Currently, the matter is under review by the Sindh High Court, with a decision pending. This is a critical issue that demands immediate action from the Sindh government. To combat this problem, the government should leverage technology. With the extensive data managed by NADRA, detecting and eliminating fraudulent documents could be streamlined and made more effective.

In light of the Sindh High Court’s notice, it is essential that the government take swift and decisive action to identify and revoke bogus domiciles. Those who have secured employment through fraudulent means must be disqualified immediately, and robust measures should be put in place to prevent any recurrence of such practices. Ensuring that indigenous residents are given priority in accessing their rightful opportunities is important for inclusivity and restoring fairness to the system.
