KARACHI:
As a concerned citizen, I want to bring public attention to the urgent need to boycott Israeli products. The Israeli government’s continued violation of Palestinians’ human rights, illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, and disregard for international law have devastating consequences for Palestinian people. The Israeli government’s actions include: illegal settlement expansion; home demolitions; restrictions on movement and access to resources; and military occupation and violence
By buying Israeli products, we inadvertently support and fund these injustices. Israeli exports include: agricultural products (e.g. avocados, dates); technology and software; pharmaceuticals; cosmetics and skincare products; and wine and other beverages.
Boycotting Israeli products is a peaceful and effective way to show our solidarity with Palestinian people and pressure the Israeli government to respect international law and human rights. This movement is inspired by the successful boycotts against apartheid South Africa and is supported by many organisations and individuals worldwide.
I urge the public to boycott Israeli products and companies to, in a way, express solidarity with the hapless Palestinians. Let us use our collective voice to promote peace, justice, and equality for all. Some ways to get involved include: researching and avoiding Israeli products; supporting Palestinian-led organisations and initiatives; advocating for policy changes in our governments; and educating others about this important issue.
Together, we can make a difference and promote a more just and peaceful world.
