Sindh and tourism

KARACHI:

The land of Sindh is fascinating enough to attract tourists in millions annually. It has a long coastline, vast desserts, captivating mountainous terrains, cultural heritage, ancient religious sites and resting places of revered saints, as well as historical places like Moen Jo Daro. Besides, it has the delicious traditional cuisine and clothing to inspire foreign tourists in particular. However, there is need for the government to invest on the mentioned sites to make them tourist attractions in true sense — by making available good and affordable transportation facilities, constructing guest houses and hotels, etc. What is a must in the context of tourism is safety and security. The government needs to pay serious attention to this aspect of tourism. A lot of countries in the world — Sri Lanka, for instance — have tourism as their major source of income. We can also turn Pakistan into a hub of tourism with a little investment and focus. It will be a win-win situation for our country, as it will not only generate jobs but will also fetch the much-needed foreign exchange.
