KARACHI:
According to a UN report, about 10 million women above 35 are waiting for marriage in Pakistan. The report highlights the serious problems related to marriage in Pakistan. Marriage is actually a contract through which society, law, and religion accept the marital relationship of a man and a woman. It adds a new family to society, and the resulting children get recognition and legal protection.
A major problem in our society is that we have made marriage so difficult that it costs hundreds of thousands of rupees. So the boys get past the right age of marriage as he is worried about making their careers first. On the other hand, girls want to be self-employed as their parents do not have the required amount of money for their dowry.
Look at the western world where men go to church and get married and there are no expensive rituals before or after. The people of Pakistan can only be requested to make the process of marriage easy. The government should carry out legislation in this regard.
