KARACHI:
The healthcare situation in Hub, one of the major cities of Balochistan, is quite concerning. The Civil Hospital in Hub lacks basic radiology services. Disappearance of medicines from the hospital’s pharmacy is no secret. Despite a government notification promising uninterrupted monthly supplies, there is no improvement yet. Furthermore, many doctors employed at the hospital are also running private clinics, neglecting their official duties, and there is no accountability on this. There are reports of newborns dying due to lack of proper treatment. Additionally, ailments such as allergies, asthma, chest infection and malnutrition are common among children. Those affected require emergency treatment, which they often do not receive on time. In view of the poor healthcare at government hospitals, private hospitals have made hefty increase in their fees. I therefore request the Government of Balochistan to take immediate action against to address the situation.
