KARACHI:
Books are very beneficial for us. They help us escape from the harrowing realities of life and find solace in art and imagination. Blessed is the one who acquires the habit of reading. The blessings reading confers on a reader are many provided that we choose the right books.
Reading is the strongest antidote for mental, physical and emotional inflictions and assures readers against loneliness and destitution. Unfortunately, we are witnessing a sharp decline in the culture of reading in Pakistan. Technology has replaced our reading hobby and activity and we are losing out on the benefits and joy that reading brings. One of the significant causes our tolerance level and empathy are touching zero is because our brains are inundated with social media rage and madness, which only inculcates frustration in us.
Parents, teachers and young people must endeavour to revive the reading culture by celebrating writers, exchanging books, giving away books as presents and arranging literary gatherings and reading clubs as much as possible.
