Unemployment in Balochistan

Letter April 09, 2024
Unemployment in Balochistan

KARACHI:

Months have passed and we have seen no effective steps taken by the newly elected government of Balochistan against unemployment in the province. Balochistan is considered the richest province of Pakistan in the field of natural resources, which have no means to the residents of the province itself. As compared to other provinces of Pakistan, Balochistan has been completely marginalised in terms of provision of basics resources. No city or district of the province appears developed and capable of regional competition.

It hurts to see the structure of the province where the youth have little to no sophisticated academic or professional opportunity where it takes years for a fresh graduate to find a reasonable job. What is worse is the absence or limited availability of employment vacancies in the federal government. The province, on the other hand, is not strong enough to support the residents with enough employment.

It is hoped that the establishment places the plight as its top priority and take the needed steps to elevate the province and enable its potential.
