Malaria in Turbat

Malaria in Turbat

KARACHI:

Turbat is becoming rapidly infected with malaria. More than 100 cases have been reported in Kech district during the last 24 hours. According to local doctors, unattended garbage and unhygienic water are the main reasons. Most of the cases are reported from union councils of Absar, Josak, Gokdan, Shahi Tump, Malikabad, Bahman and Kosh.

The plague is fast becoming uncontrolled and due to insufficient healthcare available in the district, patients are travelling to Karachi for immediate treatment. However, not everyone is able to travel due to personal restraints. In the years to come, Balochistan will continue to shrink as the local government has no preparation to manage health emergencies, and will not, in the foreseeable future.
