KARACHI:
From the enchanting melodies of birds to the distressing impact of noise pollution, climate change has woven its influence into various facets of our lives. In 2022, over 30 million Pakistanis grappled with the aftermath of devastating floods. The repercussions were profound—thousands lost their lives, critical infrastructure lay in ruins and millions found themselves displaced, still struggling to regain stability.
With the elections merely two and a half weeks away, political campaigns have kicked into gear. A notable absence from the discourse, however, is any mention of the pressing issue of climate change by party leaders. This oversight is surprising given its significant impact on the lives of millions. Whether due to underestimation or lack of awareness regarding the consequences, the silence on this critical issue raises concerns. In either case, it is the common people who will suffer.
