KARACHI:
Makran, the second-largest city in southern Balochistan, is grappling with the pressing issue of a shortage of medicines in hospitals and clinics. Medicines for headaches, fever, diabetes and many essential medications for children are not available at clinics and pharmacies. Patients suffering from emergencies and various other medical conditions are desperately seeking medicines.
Pharmacists and retailers claim that pharmaceutical companies are struggling to fulfil medicine demands due to a shortage of funds and necessary equipment. Some retailers, in response to the heightened demand, have increased prices, exacerbating the distress of patients.
The provincial healthcare department must take swift action to ensure a timely and consistent supply of medicines. Addressing this issue is crucial not only for immediate healthcare needs but also for the overall well-being of Makran’s residents and the city’s healthcare infrastructure.
