KARACHI:
Government institutions worsen citizens’ challenges as essential expenses, particularly petrol and electricity prices, keep rising. NEPRA’s November fuel adjustment notification imposes a significant burden of 35 billion rupees on consumers, despite 76% of electricity being generated from cost-effective sources. The result is an escalation in load-shedding hours, affecting domestic, industrial and agricultural consumers. It is crucial for the caretaker government to promptly address this situation, ensuring that citizens are not left vulnerable and laying the groundwork for the incoming elected government to build upon positive initiatives.
