Discriminatory attitude

Letter January 06, 2024
Discriminatory attitude

KARACHI:

Our police forces often exhibit a discriminatory attitude when interacting with individuals from religious and ethnic minorities. Despite the prevalence of police brutality, members of these minorities endure additional harassment and mistreatment, even when they are the victims. This attitude not only perpetuates a cycle of persecution but also grants ordinary citizens the freedom to oppress minorities.

It is imperative that we hold police officers accountable for their discriminatory actions. I firmly believe that by collectively addressing this issue, we can instigate positive change within our police force and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society. Let us unite to ensure that our law enforcement agencies accurately represent the diverse communities they serve, fostering trust, understanding and justice.
