Lack of human rights

Lack of human rights

KARACHI:

Education is crucial for a state’s development, shaping the nation’s future. Unfortunately, despite constitutional provisions and international agreements, human rights violations persist in Pakistan. The country ranks low in fundamental rights and faces rising poverty at 37.2% in 2023. Basic human rights are not adequately integrated into education, especially in rural areas where awareness is lacking.

To strengthen unity, it’s vital to instil human rights, justice and Constitutional principles in primary education. Implementing compulsory human rights education from primary to higher secondary levels is essential. The ineffectiveness of human rights commissions contributes to the issue; they need independence, activation and empowerment to protect victims. Acknowledging flaws and promoting human rights awareness can pave the way for a peaceful and happier society.

Furthermore, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency within institutions is imperative to ensure the effective implementation of human rights principles in Pakistan.
