KARACHI:
Balochistan, the largest province in Pakistan, spans 347,190 square kilometres in the southwest region and is rich in minerals, with 40 out of 50 nationally extracted minerals found here. Despite its natural wealth, Balochistan grapples with economic challenges. 60% of its population lives below the poverty line and it lags in health and education indicators. Urgent government attention is needed to address these issues. Food security is crucial for sustaining livelihoods and immediate measures are required to meet this fundamental need in Balochistan.
To unlock its growth potential, Balochistan needs targeted government initiatives, especially in addressing financial struggles and improving key areas like health, education and food security. The government can propel the province towards a brighter future by maximising the use of Balochistan’s abundant natural resources while enhancing the quality of life for its people.
