Females in politics

PESHAWAR:

Despite progress in various sectors, the underrepresentation of women in Pakistani politics remains a significant issue. This imbalance raises questions about the impact of patriarchal norms and systemic barriers that impede women from actively engaging in political processes. Patriarchy often manifests in discriminatory practices and unequal opportunities for women in politics. Cultural norms and gender stereotypes contribute to limiting the visibility and influence of women in decision-making spaces. It is imperative for policymakers and political leaders to address these systemic challenges, promoting gender inclusivity and dismantling barriers that hinder female participation. Initiatives such as affirmative action and mentorship programmes can play a crucial role in encouraging and supporting women to enter and thrive in politics.
