RAWALPINDI:

The widespread use of smartphones has significantly changed our lives, but the growing problem of excessive use and dependency on these devices is a cause for concern. People of all ages are constantly attached to their phones and end up spending hours scrolling through content.

This addiction not only affects personal relationships but also poses serious threats to mental well-being and productivity. One key factor is the need for instant gratification, as smartphones provide immediate access to information and entertainment. The constant desire to see notifications and the fear of missing out drive this compulsive behaviour. Moreover, the various entertainment options on phones, such as games and social media, act as a way for individuals to escape from stress or boredom, leading to even more excessive phone use. It is crucial for society to address this issue promptly. Schools and parents should educate children about responsible mobile phone usage, and workplaces can implement policies to encourage breaks from screen time. Additionally, promoting offline activities and social interactions can help reduce the negative effects of excessive smartphone use.

As technology advances, it is our collective responsibility to find a balance between the benefits of connectivity and consequences of addiction. By raising awareness and promoting healthy mobile phone habits, we can work towards creating a society that uses technology wisely.
