KARACHI:
In recent years, the increasing prevalence of vaping among teenagers has raised concerns for parents, educators and medical professionals. Despite initially being perceived as a less harmful substitute for smoking, vaping has gained popularity among youth presenting new challenges.
Social media platforms have contributed to the glamorisation of vaping fostering a trendy image that attracts young minds. There is a misconception among the youth that vaping is a safer alternative, but it poses similar health risks to traditional smoking, particularly due to the addictive nature of nicotine.
Children as young as 12 years old have been admitted to the hospital due to the overuse of vape. Vaping culture is a significant concern demanding attention and action. To mitigate its impact on our children’s health, we must raise awareness, understand the causes, identify emerging health risks and implement effective prevention measures. Addressing this issue collectively will contribute to fostering a healthier and more informed generation.
