Recently, I visited Mastung situated in Balochistan’s Kalat division. Mastung is renowned not only for its scenic beauty but also for its delectable cakes, which are famously known as Mastungi cakes. However, despite its charm, the city grapples with numerous issues, much like the rest of the province.
One pressing concern is the frequent gas load shedding, which has become a significant issue for the residents, particularly with temperatures plummeting to as low as 3°C to 4°C. Prolonged gas outages not only impact domestic chores but have left residents struggling amid the cold weather. Some residents have tragically lost their loved ones due to the inability to heat their homes. While the elites of the region have shifted to other parts of the country with better amenities, the ordinary citizens cannot afford this.
Residents have regularly protested against this persistent issue, but their calls seem to have fallen on deaf ears. The authorities remain apathetic to the plight of the ordinary citizens. The concerned authorities must address this issue and provide much-needed relief to the public.
