Uneven road hazards

Uneven road hazards

KARACHI:

The roads in Sukkur, like in many other cities, have deteriorated over time due to a combination of heavy traffic, adverse weather conditions and insufficient maintenance. These irregularities compromise the driving experience and raise the risk of fatal accidents. Drivers navigate through a maze of potholes and uneven surfaces leading to abrupt manoeuvres that result in collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians.

The economic and social ramifications of road accidents on bumpy roads are substantial. Emergency medical services are strained and the cost of treating accident victims places an additional burden on the healthcare system. Businesses also suffer as transportation becomes more challenging impacting the flow of goods and services throughout the city. Local authorities must prioritise road maintenance and invest in infrastructure development. Regular inspections, timely repairs and strategic planning for road development projects are essential components of a comprehensive solution.

Public awareness campaigns can play a crucial role in educating motorists about safe driving practices on uneven roads. Encouraging responsible driving, adhering to speed limits and promoting defensive driving techniques can contribute to a safer road environment. By implementing effective maintenance strategies and fostering a culture of responsible driving, Sukkur can ensure the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors alike.
