KARACHI:
The youth in Pakistan wield considerable influence during elections extending beyond their role as voters. Their activism, adeptness with technology and desire for inclusivity make them instrumental in shaping democratic processes.
As a significant voting bloc, young people impact election results by actively participating in voter registration and turnout. Their effective use of social media amplifies their influence mobilising support and sparking vital political discussions that shape opinions and drive movements. Initiatives led by the youth focusing on educating voters and advocating for societal progress showcase their commitment to positive change. Furthermore, the rise of young leaders and candidates reflects a demand for representation that resonates with their generation’s aspirations.
Despite their influence, challenges like voter disinterest and educational disparities hinder their full engagement. Overcoming these barriers requires targeted efforts to promote civic education and provide inclusive platforms for meaningful youth involvement in shaping policies. Ultimately, Pakistani youth stand as agents of change in elections. Their enthusiasm, coupled with technological proficiency and activism, holds the potential to guide the nation toward a more dynamic, inclusive and responsive democratic path.
