KARACHI:
Most cities across Pakistan lack educational facilities for disabled children, which has a detrimental impact on their overall growth and development. We often underestimate their capacity for self-education, overlooking the potential for them to carve meaningful paths in their lives. Education is an essential requirement that should be extended to all citizens, including disabled children who form a significant part of our society.
Education will not only equip them with knowledge and skills but enhance their confidence, self-worth and determination. It can build resilience and allow them to overcome challenges. Isolating and marginalising disabled children hampers their confidence and prevents them from realising their full potential and actively participating in society.
As responsible citizens, it is incumbent upon us to guarantee the provision of basic educational necessities for disabled children. This will not only alleviate their suffering but also contribute to the overall well-being of society. The education sector and educational institutes must work towards creating an inclusive environment for all.
