Bara Kahu Bridge

Letter November 25, 2023
Bara Kahu Bridge

KARACHI:

Bara Kahu is a small locality situated near the Islamabad to Murree and Azad Jammu Kashmir expressway. The region has suffered from prolonged neglect and its inadequate infrastructure has become a source of distress for both residents and commuters who frequently traverse the area. Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced plans to construct a four-kilometre overhead bridge to alleviate traffic congestion on this route.

While the initiative was appreciated, it left the residents of Bara Kahu without essential road connections to the bridge. The ongoing construction activities have added to the residents’ challenges restricting their movement and contributing to pollution in the area.

It is imperative that the relevant government authorities promptly address this issue and ensure the expeditious completion of the bridge. The Capital Development Authority must fulfil its obligations by providing residents with road linkages to the Bara Kahu bridge as well as other crucial routes.
