KARACHI:
Approximately, 48% of Pakistani youth do not cast votes in the general elections. Participating in the democratic process through voting is a fundamental right and a powerful means for individuals to have their voices heard. By casting their ballots, young people can contribute to shaping the future of their country playing an integral role in the decision-making that will impact their lives and those of future generations.
Youth involvement in voting catalyses positive change. When the younger demographic engages in the electoral process, it brings fresh perspectives, innovative ideas and a dynamic energy that can rejuvenate the political landscape. The inclusion of diverse voices is essential for fostering a more inclusive and representative government. Voting instils a sense of civic responsibility and a connection to the broader community. As young individuals actively participate in the electoral process, they become more aware of societal issues and are motivated to contribute to the betterment of their communities. This sense of responsibility fosters a culture of civic engagement that extends beyond the ballot box encouraging youth to participate in community service and advocacy actively.
Through their votes, young individuals can influence policies related to education, employment and social issues that disproportionately impact their demographic. By participating in the democratic process, youth can shape a future that aligns with their aspirations and values. Young individuals can advocate for policies that promote economic growth, job creation and sustainable development. Their votes become a driving force in steering the country towards a prosperous and equitable future. Voting is a cornerstone of democracy and when the youth actively engage in this process, they contribute to the vibrancy and effectiveness of the democratic system. We must encourage and educate our peers about the significance of their votes empowering them to shape the destiny of our nation.
