KARACHI:
Last year, the Civil Services Academy (CSA), Lahore, in collaboration with the School Education Department (SED) of South Punjab, launched a project called ‘The Aligarh Movement 2.0’. It featured placing under-training assistant commissioners (ACs) of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) as teachers in public schools as part of their specialized training program (STP). The initiative was aimed at sensitising the next generation of bureaucrats to the value of education and the condition of the education sector.
While this year, new officers have been sent to various schools in South Punjab, I believe the programme should be extended to other provinces as well. Sindh and Balochistan lag far behind in education. Every year, when the final results of CSS exams are announced, a majority of the qualifiers are from Punjab. I request the government to grant this opportunity to students in other provinces as well.
