KARACHI:
The presence of stray dogs and cows has long haunted the residents of Shakargarh. However, a recent spike in dog bite cases and cow attacks has become a major source of concern among people affecting their day-to-day movement. Victims of dog bites also face the risk of rabies.
Stray cows often block traffic and create a nuisance. The stray animals also ruin the surrounding greenery and landscape. The district authorities need to adopt stringent measures to curb this menace. Dogs need to be neutered and sterilised. Shelters should be built for cows and calves, which can also function as dairy farms. Dogs should be trained by animal welfare organisations and can be used as security dogs.
